GOOGLE ALGORITHM UPDATES
In 2012 google decided to update its system by improving its quality and by building trust value with its users.
1. PANDA UPDATE [21.12.2012]
In 2012 Google introduced The Panda update to reduce low quality content given to its users. The main aim of this update was to eradicate content spamming among the webmasters.
Parked domain update enabled webmasters to park their websites in their respective domain. If a webmaster was not willing to publish their webpage yet, then instead of starting it initially they were given an option to park it, till all the necessary modifications have been done.
Through this update Google decided to not show certain websites with low quality content, keyword spam, thin unattractive contents etc in their search result. This helped Google in building trust value among its users.
2. PENGUIN UPDATE [5.10.2012]
Link spamming as we know is a method of selling links to another website in exchange of money to increase its ranking.
So to reduce the purchases and exchanges of links google decided to update and change its algorithm by punishing the one's who were responsible.
Certain other functions of this update include;
Wiki Spamming: Wiki spamming or Wikipedia spamming was a very popular spamming method used during that period of time in which people started sharing low quality, no follow links in Wikipedia.
So this update introduced by Google helped them in eradicating such links.
Automated links: These are links created by a person with complete skills when it come's to software and SEO. Such links were injected into smaller websites.
Penguin update helped it punishing such professionals.
3. PIGEON UPDATE [20.8.2013]
Pigeon update was based on local seo ranking.They provided their search results to each of its user differently. For example if you were planning to go to a near by hospital then SEO helps you in finding the one that's nearest to you, but the very hospital might be a bit far away for another person who lives in a different place which is quiet far from the hospital as well as your house. Therefore, SEO provided local search results according to the need of its users.
But for receiving such results or to reach the targeted customers webmasters has to provide their;
- Address
- Pin number
- Phone number
- Make their local directories visible.
- Location verifying map should be attached to their webpage If they are keeping a social media account, then the interactions, likes, comments etc from these local users are considered very important.
4. HUMMING BIRD UPDATE [20.8.2020]
According to this update, if a user asks a question in an attractive manner for example "How to start a blog?" instead of blog start-up
then Google provides the user an attractive answer.
More interaction with the users will help in increasing the ranks.
Also the website with most number of positive responses will be given a higher rank on the Google search result.
5. RANK BRAIN UPDATE [26.10.2015]
Rank brain update was introduced after the strengthening of artificial intelligence or A.I. By this update google decided to provide all the answers to its users effectively. They analysed the users and tried to provide the results in a customized manner.
6. PARKED DOMAIN UPDATE [16.4.2012]
This update makes sure that such incomplete webpages or parked webpages wont be shown in the users search result.
7. EXACT DOMAIN UPDATE [27.9.2012]
If websites are booked on the basis of their respective keyword then such websites are know as exact match domain.
For example if A starts a website based on travelling his keyword is said to be travelling and if he uses this keyword to book his website then his website is said to be exact match domain.
Therefore, all the EDM websites with low quality contents and a very few updates were removed from the search result. This was done to maintain the quality of Google searches.
These updates are said to be the most important updates in Google history. Even though Google has introduced more number of updates, these updates has helped Google in improving the quality of their search result to a great extent.
